It’s May! This month sees the return of the Naturally Healthy May campaign. This aims to encourage more people to get outside and enjoy Devon’s wonderful green and blue spaces, to connect with nature and be physically active. Naturally Healthy May is all about the power of nature and physical activity to improve our health and wellbeing.

There are lots of free activities on offer this month. Locally, keep an eye out for the river walking events coming up with the LED. You are also very welcome to join me for a free, 4-week evening Pilates program. This is aimed at the 55s and over. It’s running on Wednesdays from the 4-25th May, at 6:30pm in Land of Canaan.

Pilates is great for improving strength, particularly core, mobility and stability and is therefore an extremely beneficial form of exercise for midlife and beyond. Being out under the sky will also boost your physical and mental health – fingers crossed we’ll even get some sunshine! Beginners are very welcome. Spaces are free but pre-registration is essential. Please bring your own mat.

Naturally Healthy May is led by Active Devon and Devon County Council on behalf of the Devon Local Nature Partnership with support from partners across the environment, health and physical activity sectors. For more information head to the Active Devon website www.activedevon.org. You’ll find an Activity Finder where you can browse the various events on offer and find those that interest you.
